Leadership Transition at Columbia Grain International

To our valued customers:

Portland, OR (August 21, 2025) - Marubeni Corporation and the Board of Directors of Columbia Grain International (CGI) announce a leadership transition at the conclusion of Jeff Van Pevenage’s current contract term.

This decision reflects a refreshed strategic direction for CGI and is not a reflection of performance. After thoughtful consideration, Jeff has also shared that this is an appropriate moment for him personally to pursue a new direction.

We are grateful for his decades of service, vision, and dedication to our employees, customers, farmers, and partners. The CGI Board affirms that Jeff’s leadership has been strong and deeply committed to CGI’s success. We also recognize the support of Jeff’s family throughout this journey. Please join us in
thanking Jeff for his exceptional contributions to CGI and in wishing him every success in the future.

As part of this strategic direction, Kurt Haarmann will be promoted to the role of President and Chief Executive Officer of CGI effective September 1, 2025.

Kurt joined CGI in 1993 and in his 32 years of service to Marubeni Group Companies he has experienced all aspects of CGI’s business. He began his career with CGI in Colfax, WA where he developed a passion for our grower-direct business model. After moving to Portland, he took on roles involved in international bulk grain merchandising and team management. In 2014 Kurt left CGI to lead the wheat team at the newly formed Pacificor, LLC as Senior Vice President of Merchandising. He returned to CGI in 2018, led a company re-organization as the Senior Vice President of Grain and Oilseeds. Most recently, he has served as Chief Commercial Officer, overseeing all merchandising, freight, and logistics. He brings with him a strong commitment to the employees, customers, farmers, and shareholders of Columbia Grain and Marubeni Corporation.

Please join me in congratulating Kurt on his new role.

Sincerely,
Columbia Grain International
