Our strategically located origination system provides an expanding range of services to growers.

We have continued to expand our facilities in the growing regions of Washington, Idaho, Montana and North Dakota. We work closely with a large number of shippers, including cooperatives, independent dealers and producers, which are vital links in the marketing chain.

Owned Facilities – To maintain control of storage and shipment, we own our interior elevator and loading facilities, with major rail facilities at Harlem, Sweetgrass, Rudyard, Whitetail and Wolf Point, Montana, Arvilla and Valley City North Dakota; and barge loading at Central Ferry and Wilma, Washington.

Market Connection – Our many sub-terminals keep us in direct contact with farmers and dealers. We constantly monitor crop conditions and keep our merchants in our Portland office aware of production and quality forecasts.

Specialty Crops – Beyond origination of traditional grains, we work with producers to rotate crops such as dry peas and lentils, both of which we market under the Heart and Emerald Empire brands. Increasing Asian demand for canola and other oilseeds provide profitable alternative crops to growers.

Seed Sales – We have several processing plants, which provide registered and certified seed in bulk, bagged and retail, in a multitude of wheat, barley, pulse and canola varieties. With quality and performance in mind, we continue to work with research entities to develop new varieties in test plots around the region.
